About
When most people look at an MRI scan, they are confused. I want you to see the colors and beauty that I see.
I am Dr. Toni LaValley, an outsider artist who retired from a very successful career as a Neuroradiologist, and is now painting full time. Using MRI scans from medical cases as source images, my art transcends complicated medical conditions, and translates the awkward and tragic beauty of the human body to canvas.
Each series of paintings examines a different medical event. They depict babies still in the womb, displaying various and challenging genetic conditions.
While my paintings may stir deep emotions of loss and personal tragedy, they transform the message to one of healing and acceptance.
